When George and Pattie met on the set of A Hard Day’s Night in 1964, George was instantly smitten. He asked Pattie, “Will you marry me? Well, if you won’t marry me, will you have dinner with me?” Unfortunately, Pattie was in a relationship at the time and declined—but not for long. A week later when they were called back to set, Pattie accepted George’s offer, having ended her relationship days earlier. George and Pattie were together for 10 years, separating in 1974 and divorcing in 1977. Pattie inspired two Beatles songs, “Something” and “I Need You.” She also turned the Beatles on to transcendental meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the late 60s, which inspired much of George’s songwriting and led all four Beatles to Rishikesh, India.
